Un colmillo de mAmuT encontrado en La Calonja (Tarragona) podría catalogar al yacimiento una antigüedad de un millón de años!!!Mammuthus meridionalis, es la especie a la que pertenece el colmillo encontrado en La Boella. Se trata de un elefante que llegaba a pesar el doble que los de ahora, unas 12 toneladas y a medir unos 4,5 metros de altura.
Investigadores del Instituto Catalán de Paleoecología Humana y Evolución Social (IPHES), estudiarán los microvertebrados de los depósitos sedimentarios de La Boella, con un margen de error de hasta 200 mil años para dar una datación más precisa.
Este descubrimiento pone a La Boella a la altura de yacimientos como Atapuerca y Orce.
